The Oryx difference is delivered through:

1. Less Downtime
Oryx machines are designed and manufactured to withstand constant, rigorous use. Changeovers happen quickly and seamlessly, and we build in easy access for maintenance and upgrades. Our remote access, PLC programming and servicing standards are such that
some of the world's biggest companies choose Oryx and its parent company, Fibre King as their preferred supplier.

2. Lower overall cost of use
Let’s start with
strategic design - we make a study of the end use and create a machine that does what it needs to most efficiently, using the best technology available. Oryx machines are tailored to your exact requirements; and the beauty is that if your requirements change, the equipment can usually be converted to suit.

Less operator intervention is required on an Oryx machine; your products will be better protected in transit because of our superior quality packs; and all this is backed by faster maintenance and support, plus competitively priced spares.

3. 'No Excuses' Service
We stand by our word, and move heaven and earth to make it happen.

And then

There's the security of knowing that you are buying the international standard in packaging equipment. After 80 years of doing what we do, we can safely say that we know our stuff. And that's probably why Oryx/Fibre King equipment is exported all over the globe, into highly competitive markets. We're often told there's nothing that comes close to the quality we provide, by people who make it their business to procure packaging equipment.

We like to employ visionary thinking to investigate new opportunities and create innovative solutions to category-specific challenges. All our clients benefit from our Research and Development. Our machines are designed to be easily upgraded – so when we make it even better, we keep you up to speed.

Our Corporate Culture

We're good to our people. This means they tend to stay around for longer, making use of company-supported personal and career development. We have a remarkable average employee age of 38, with an average of 11 years employment.

We have a talented, creative team that works within the kinds of precise systems and standardisation only developed through long-term, motivated employment. What does this mean for you? Exceptional service from every department, no matter where you are in the world, by people who want to make a difference.

Speaking of making a difference...

We take a global approach to everything we do, especially when it comes to being green. Our research and development is focused on providing equipment to support environmentally sustainable supply chains. We recently worked with Coles Group (Australia) to develop specialised equipment for returnable packaging crates, which are fast replacing fibre, or cardboard, as a means of transporting fresh produce.

Within our own operations we seek to minimise our environmental impact, with offsetting of carbon emissions from electricity, company vehicles and air travel.

Our Future

There are nowthousands of Oryx/Fibre King packaging machines in operation around the world, and we've won many export and packaging awards.

Under the guidance of our CEO Earle Roberts, Fibre King Australia has increased its profits throughout the economic downturn. Fibre King actively exports to the US, Europe, South East Asia; including China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand; and also into South Africa, South America and New Zealand.

Fibre King History

Based in North Brisbane, Australia, Fibre King is an Australian success story. In some 2000 square metres of factory space, a team of 50 designers, engineers, sales and support staff work together to solve the world's packaging problems.

The company of R.L. Windsor & Son Pty Ltd commenced operation in 1926, in a small engineering shop concentrating on supplying knives and blacksmithing needs to industry. R.L. Windsor grew from fulfilling special machinery needs in the post-war years progressing to supply the sophisticated equipment required for the 21st century.

Among R.L. Windsor's developments over the years have been an impressive list of successful projects which included the development of equipment for the dried and fresh fruit industries, a range of plywood presses and handling systems, tree harvesters and high pruners for forestry and the Fibre King range of packaging machinery. From the 1950's, R.L. Windsor manufactured saw milling and ply milling machinery, supplying the industry with sawing equipment, log handlers, stackers and feeders and plywood presses and board loading systems.

In 1984 R.L. Windsor decided to concentrate on packaging machinery due to the cyclical nature of the timber industry market. It set about developing new products for industry, and in that year designed and built its first automatic palletising machine.

In 2001 the company moved into a new, purpose built factory and office facility in the outer Brisbane suburb of Clontarf. Late in 2003 it changed its name to Fibre King Pty Ltd to reflect the strength of the brand globally.

The Fibre King range now includes packers, palletisers, crate equipment, robotics and ancillary materials handling equipment which are sold to both the domestic and international markets. Oryx Automation is the Fibre King innovation arm, and takes its industry-specific innovations into the North and South American markets, with a focus on the fresh produce and meat markets.
